CBSE Now Mandates CCTV in All Schools -- What Every Affiliated School Must Do
On July 21st 2025, CBSE amended Chapter 4 of its Affiliation Bye-Laws and introduced the clause 4.7.10 -- making the following provisions mandatory for all CBSE-affiliated schools: CBSE CCTV Compliance Checklist: 1- High-resolution CCTV cameras with audio-visual recording installed at: All locations for entry and exit, All classes, Staircases and corridors, Library and laboratories, Canteen, storeroom, playground, Other common spaces (Toilets and bathrooms are not included). 2- Audio-visual recordings in real-time is not limited to video recordings, but also audio recording required. 3- Minimum 15-day footage storage is available to authorities upon demand. 4- Fully functional at all times during school hours of operation. Maintenance and backup systems are required. 5- Compliance time limit: 6 months from date of notification (deadline January 2026). Schools that are not in compliance could receive notifications, affiliation penalties and possibly the suspension or termination from CBSE association.
